Flowcode urgently needs better accessibility features

Post by miggarc »

Hi

This is a problem I'm dealing with very often:

Currently Flowcode gives their users a somehow poor control of several aspects that
as straight relation with accessibility features .
I'm talking about local accessibility features inside Flowcode itself, not generic
Windows OS accessibility .

Flowcode needs to give their users control of, at least, font size :

Project Explorer,
Component Properties,
2D and 3D Panels,
Flowcchart Comments Dialog Window - where comments are written (not about the same comments on Flowchart view) .

Quick Access Toolbar icons need much more contrast when in dark mode (although I've already talked about this here):

Probably a light white shade would be good . Again, even better, if you give users the Quick Access Toolbar icons color choice .

Many thanks in advance,

Thanks for the suggestions - I will investigate and try to improve these aspects of Flowcode.

I've been investigating this today by playing with the font size and and contrast settings in Windows 10. I think these should hopefully be sufficient for the majority of users who require it, and it would be a lot of effort to replicate these settings within Flowcode itself. Why would you want Flowcode to have this instead of using the functionality built in to Windows?

Here are some screenshots from v9 on my PC using various Windows settings:

This is how I use it, with fonts set to 125%:
fonts set to 125%

This is with fonts at 200%:
Larger font size (200%)

And here's fonts at 200% with high contrast:

Hi Steve

" Why would you want Flowcode to have this instead of using the functionality built in to Windows? "

Because, at least to my known, if I use the functionality built in to Windows for font size, it will
also change all my other programs and windows itself.

Many thanks in advance,

You are correct - those Windows settings affect all applications. However, we have chosen font sizes that typically mimic other common applications. For example, the following is a side-by-side comparison with Microsoft Word:

I could be wrong, but I don't see an option to change those UI font sizes within Word and instead a user must rely on the global Windows settings if they want them to be bigger.

Our reasoning is that if the font sizes in Flowcode are too small, then that will be true for other applications as well. So the most appropriate solution for a user is to use the settings in Windows .
