One thing that might or might not be useful
I could not find my RC5 remote and did not have to had a 36KHz IR TX parts or a standard RC5 remote.
I had two options use a universal remote that will have RC5 protocol or in my case I used my mobile phone that has an IR blaster.
Using a remote app, selected PhilTV2, it successfully controlled the RC5 RX module I have, and sent pressed numbers to LCD

Do mobile phones still have infra-red ports?
In saying that I still have a laptop that controls a HP RF spectrum analyser that not only has IR but 25-pin DIN too

Hi,
I am using a PIC12F1840 programmed with Flowcode 11 via the RC5 TX component; the IR LED is rated at 100 mW, and I added a 2N3904 transistor to boost the LED's power. Actually, you don't have to use those specific IR receivers—any other type will work, provided it handles the decoding of the received data. If you have a working IR receiver that you've used successfully, I can adapt my setup to use that one instead. I chose those specific components simply because they are included in Flowcode, which makes programming easier.

Yep, I have Redmi Note 13 Pro.
I believe that mobile was rolled out in January 2024, so not that old.
Has its flaws, but useful if can't find tv remote.

I can't deny that happened, when the tv was too loud and I was playing pool with someone well known on these forums.

Hi,
As long as an encoded signal can be transmitted and received without reading errors... that’s excellent. It’s just a matter of being able to get them on Amazon, AliExpress, Alibaba, etc.; I’ve designed some PCBs and sent a few out for fabrication to test them.

Hi, I'm like a kid with a new toy;
I found a transmitter and receiver in my Toy box—according to my checks—operate at 38 kHz. I displayed the signal received by the RX when pressing the "0" button on the screen. How can I get the PIC to decode the signal and identify that I'm sending a "0" with the TX
The IR remote and 1838 receiver are inexpensive and very commonly used with Arduino.
I believe I noticed the encoding format was NEC (though I’m not entirely sure), but basically, there shouldn't be any errors in receiving and decoding the number.

On this graph, I pressed the numbers 1, 2, and 3, and generated those pulse trains for each number.
