Martin Fisher great component Max7219_v2 a question Solved.

Hello
I've been using this max 7219 component and it been fantastic, but I was hoping to use it with the LolinD32 board but I think there is an
unexposed setting that I can't get to , it might be the unused MISO connection. There is no port D on the Lolin board so an error is appearing.
Is there any way around it.
Thanks very much.

Try this - exported with MISO visible..
Would be interesting to know if it works on ESP32

Yes it works fine, the only difference I can see is that version 2 running on the PIC18F4620
would scroll across 16 segments of LEDs, but if you select anything over 8 with the Lolin board nothing appears,
with 8 selected and 16 connected it just shows everything twice. Everything else seems to work just as well.
Is it some limitation of the Lolin board that stops it working above 8 segments I wonder.
It will do for me anyway.
Thanks very much for the component.
All the best.

Very strange - could you open a serial comms program running at 115200 on whatever comms port the board is attached too - and see if it kicks out any debug info..
And check you've selected the correct number of displays....

Ah - I see why - It actually was set for a max of 8 displays..
Try this - upped to 16. I've tested with 12 on a wroom board with SPI at 10MHz

Hello,
It's working perfectly, scrolling across 16 segments without a hitch.
I don't know what to say, except thank you very much, I can only admire your expertise.
I think I'll use it with the BBC news component, it will work a treat.
Thanks again
Mark
