BB Any body out there ...I have purchased flowcode 5 believing the downloadable tutorials on the flowcode 5 "buy now" site by matric multimedia were based on the same version 5 of flowcode .reasonable assumption but WRONG they sell you V5 and give you free V4 tuts for it .they are not all the downloadable tuts NOTE the user interface is totally different for V4 and V5...anybody know of a book on flowcode 5 or a tutorial set or even a cd book that assumes no previous knowledge of flowcode 2,3 or 4 that takes a programmer through its allocation of properties to each flowchart object..i have been sucked in to buying something that has absolutely no documentation with it , no user manual no tutorials and no book written to enable me to teach the v5 to anybody else or assemble flowcharts for any of the chips I wish to use ... do I have to junk this purchase and go back to Mplas 8.8....can you help

Hi bmbrown,
Have you tried here:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/lc_index.php?p=28
There are video tutorials for search and replace etc. So definitely for Flowcode V5

Hi,
Probably it's better to try the free course Introduction to Microcontroller Programming...
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/courses/itm/index.php
If you are familiar with PIC, you can even start from Flowcode Step By Step...

hello,
As others have pointed out, there are the course and the video tutorials.
The examples here are all for v5:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/lc_index.php?p=18
They are very similar to the v4 ones as a lot of the functionality in the actual components remained identical, so there was very little to change in terms of the examples, the major changes in v5 were ease of use changes for the user, including a full back end rebuild of most of the code for Flowcode to allow newer variants of chips to be made quicker and easier.
We have tried to make it so that Flowcode doesnt change drastically from version to version so that users do not feel like they have to relearn everything everytime a new version comes out.
We have tried to make our Help file as extensively as possible and provide help on the forums to people when they are struggling.
There are two books available for Flowcode:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/product ... PHPSESSID=
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/product ... PHPSESSID=
These books were written when Flowcode v4 was out, but the principles behind programming with Flowcode havent changed since version 1.
Im sorry if you are struggling with this, we are constantly looking to improve the way we give out information to customers, one of our next tasks is to create a Flowcode/Eblocks starter page, we do have the resources available but sometimes they are more hidden than they should be. Please feel free to ask any questions in the forum and we will endeavour to help out as soon as possible.

Hi BmBrown,
I feel your pain Buddy!! For years I have felt that as much as I love Flowcode and the team and find it to be an awesome programing tool it is "severely" lacking in the way of a manual. Without voice on the videos I just find them frustrating. Very often I will want to try to figure something out and find it is hours before I find a post by Martin or one of my other Buddies that explains it perfectly! I also recommend the books David pointed out however you will still be scratching you head because it refers to Flowcode V4 and I happen to agree with you that although the Guys might think it is very much the same in principle the user interface (at least for me) is very different. I will often just go back to V4 because I can get what I want done quicker. All I can say is thank God for Martin, John, Jan, Fotios and Nicolas for they have helped significantly to make Flowcode what it is. If it were not for these Guys I would have given up a long time ago. My best advice is to stick with it and just search the posts and if that does not work post the question to the group for quick help. I hope you hang in there the rewards I assure you will be great.

I agree with this and the help from Matrix, particularly on these boards is first rate.
Ben, Martin, Jordy and everyone else always seem to be able to sort virtually any problem that occurs and the MD, Steve, was extremely helpful with an issue I had with something Flowcode back at Nepcon over five years ago (which tells you I can't remember exactly when!).
That also applies to the non tech staff as well and Jayne and Nichola certainly should be mentioned as an asset to the company.
Without the help here the product would simply not be as good as it is so long may it last...
