error while unpacking program, code LP5

Post by Steve »

Another problem that has been reported is an error message similar to the following:

Code: Select all

Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author.
We're looking into this at the moment, but I did a websearch earlier today and found lots of other similar problems with other products. The problem seems to be caused by certain spyware programs (e.g. "CA Vet", "BITPro", "PREVX", and "Pest Patrol") and workarounds/fixes are being sought.

If you do receive this error, please report it to us.

I've just received this reply, which will hopefully help anyone with this problem:

Code: Select all

Hi Steve,

Yes, some Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus updates from CA seemed to cause this problem. CA has a work around, which is this:

1. Go to registry entry: HKLM\Software\ComputerAssociates\ITMRT
2. Go to InjectExclude subKey.
3. Add <Flowcode.exe> to the list
4. Reboot

They are planning to have an update soon that will officially fix the problem.
As this workaround is a registry fix, we only recommend you perform it if you feel comfortable editing the registry and make all the necessary backups to your system before editing the registry (i.e. you are editing the registry at your own risk).

Hopefully there will be a permanent fix for this issue from CA, so I suggest anyone with this problem updates their spyware software first to see if this solves the problem.
