Hello Simon
The power supply can be between 12 and 14V and the current should really be less then 1A.
Bridge rectifier? ? ?

Greetings,
I am fairly new to PIC development and electronics in general.I have one question about the power supply of the Development Board.
I know that it needs 13v unregulated DC.The thing i don't understand is why after the PSU input there is a bridge rectifier.I know that we need the bridge to convert AC to DC.So why the input is DC?
Or its a reverse polarity protection?I have heard that you can use a diode bridge so whatever polarity gets in you always have the correct polarity to the board. Is that right?
Also if i use regulated 13v from a laboratory power supply,is it good?
Thank you very much

Yes - the board needs a DC input. The bridge is used so that the polarity can be either way around.
You can use a regulated 13V input.
