EB023 fail to load page on testprogram

I'm testing the EB023 block with the testporgram and setup from the small CD (EB023_test.hex). When I switch on the programmer the program says "Starting up... completed" as it should (this only takes a fraction of a second). The "cable not connected" icon disappears from the tray so it would seem that the PC has seen the EB023 board. Yet I cannot ping the EB023 board using 192.168.0.2, it says "Time out at command" (in Dutch).
I have two internet connections, one uses an Eminent USB modem (this is the one I normally use). The EB023 is connected to a normal netwerk card. I have used the ip settings of this second card during the set-up procedure. I don't use a proxy server. It would seem everything is installed and functioning correctly, apart of course from the fact that it doesn't reply to ping (and thus also doesn't reply to a browser command).
The only odd thing I can see is that when I ping a connection to the internet is made, it seems as if the PC is looking for this ip address on the internet instead of on the network card. When I disconnect internet I get a different error message on the ping (The targethost is not available).
I use WinXP SP2 Dutch version on a high speed cable internet connection. Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
