ECIO Reset Button

Hello,

I am enjoying the wonders of flowcode and the ECIO. There is one thing I've been wondering about...every time I download the flowcode program, I need to press the reset button in order to proceed. Otherwise I get an "ECIO not found" message. Is this normal? This happens in both my laptop with Vista and PC with Windows XP. I wish I didnt have to dig into the circuit every time I send the new program which I do many times a day when testing the program.

Thanks!

Hello

The reset button on the ECIO invokes the USB bootloader which then connects to the PC if needed to reflash your program. Otherwise it runs your program. You could do a power off power on instead of a reset if that would be easier.

I understand but the power comes from the USB since the jumper is set on USB while I am in this testing mode of program...test....reprogram...test. I guess pulling out the USB plug from the PC or laptop would be a way of turning off the power. That would be simpler than re-opening the box to press the reset button.

It's when the program is final that I transfer the jumper to EXT and use it's own power supply to run the program when powered up.

Thanks Benj!

You could fit an additional reset button to your box. Looking at the ECIO data sheet there seems to be provision for that.

Yes - just connect an external button switch between pins 2 (GND) and 3 (MCLR) of the ECIO module.
