EB066 board

Hi,
I note in the EB066 datasheet, the following remark is present:-

The onboard antenna is fairly low gain and is provided to allow simple GSM communications in strong signal
areas. For weaker signal areas it is advisable to remove the GSM module from the E-block, disconnect the
onboard antenna from the module and then connect a high gain quad band GSM antenna to the module. The
antenna socket on the GSM module is a Murata GSC type wireless connector.

Do you supply the high gain quad band GSM antenna & socket at all?

Regards

Hi
Just to give you an example.
My EB006 works fine with the built in PCB aerial.
if I have my phone next to it on the desk, I get 3/5 bars on the phone signal strenght (Same network).

Hi john,
the problem I have, is that I have to give a 'live demo', out in the middle of a field, where the signal strength is weak. That's why I really need to understand the power output of this card, with & without the high gain antenna.

Hello Tony,

The PCB antenna is a good replication of a generic commercial quad band PCB antenna, However I am not an RF engineer and do not have access to the rooms of equipment required for RF performance testing. Therefore if you require the best possible signal in all situations then I would purchase the optional external antenna. The connector on the module is a Murata GSC type.

A quick Google search "quad band murata gsc" provided this supplier.

Hi benj,
thanks for that information. I will do some simulations with my RF sim package, & let you know how I get on.
