When creating components in Flowcode you may want the components to be available to everyone who uses your PC or only be available to yourself.

To store a component in a way that any user can access your component then you can simply export the component to a folder on your hard drive and then manually copy that file into the Flowcode components directory. Flowcode may not be able to directly write to the components directory if Flowcode is installed in the default location as the Program Files directory is protected by the UAC system in Windows.

To store a component into a custom folder you can use the paths available in the Locations tab of the [[Global_Options|global options]] window. Component files present in folders specified will be added to the lists of components on the components tool bar.

Here I have directories setup to allow components to be pulled in from the shared network resources allowing multiple PCs to reference the same component files.

The exported component appears as a *.FCPX file which can no longer be opened as a Flowcode project and edited. This means you have to manually keep track of the Flowcode component source file to be able to make any future modifications.
