Flowcode 4 linker issue

Post by john hauton »

Hi, I have flowcode 3 & 4 installed on my pc (pic arm & avr).
I recently installed the dspic flowcode demo, and somehow its replaced the flowcode
4 pic linker files.
When I try to compile to hex I get the failure -2.
I have noticed that if i point the linker at linker.exe instead of boostlink.exe it will
compile, but with some error about renaming older file.
Also the default linker now seems to point to c:\sourceboost\boostlink.exe instead of the
one in the Matrix boostc directory.
Could someone advise on whats going on, as its such a pain having to re-install them all.

Thanks & regards...John

Hi John,

Have you tried clicking the restore defaults button in the Chip -> Compiler options window?

The Flowcode versions should not effect each other so it is odd you are getting this problem. Do you have any specific antivirus or firewall software you are using that may be effecting how read/writes from the registry are being performed?

Hi Benj,
I have tried this on three different machines, 2 running xp, and one running windows 7 64bit.
Everything is ok after installing fc4 (pic/avr/arm).
I then installed the fc4 dspic
Dspic works fine.
Try fc4 pic, -2 error.
Even the default points to c:\sourceboost, if I change this to Matrix Multimedita\Boostc\etc it works!
I just wonder why its doing this.
Thanks for replying
Regards john
