hi all,
i made automatic garment label collecting machine and its functioning now.
it has
one stepper motor.
8 solenoid outputs,
two inputs.
i have a little problem with stepper motor speed.
i tried without time delay after stepper increment icon and several delay values ,like 10ms,20ms,5ms.......
motor details are,
"tumagawa"
4.5v,2A
im using irf520 t0 drive the motor.
whats wrong.
is it software bug or hardware bug.
looking forward to hearing from you.
regards,
nuwan.

Hello Nuwan,
What kind of stepper motor are you using or how many wires does it have?
Is the motor twitching at all or doing nothing? If its twitching then have you tried rewiring the motor to see if you had the connections in the wrong order.
Do you have anything you can use to see if the pins are toggling correctly?
It is not recommended but I run 5V motors at around 12V when they have to move quickly. As long as the coils are switched off when ever the motor is not moving this works quite well and gives much more speed and torque from the motor.
Finally in your program you are decrementing the motor step position in a loop but only doing this once. If the motor is rotating but not going over a certain speed then the LCD routines could be the cause. Maybe try and update the LCD less often and see if this helps.

Re: lable collect mc
hi ben.
It has six wires.center tap of bouth going to positive.
Its rotating bouth side nice and smooth.
I checked wiring .
Only the problem still im getting with speed.
The motor run very fast with its original drive unit .but i dont want to and cant to use that.
Do you think output masking technic will help.?
Regards nuwan.

Hello Nuwan,
It might be worth switching to half step mode as you may get better performance this way. The official controller may be using microstepping techniques so this could maybe explain why it runs faster. I would try and find a way to ramp the speed up and down. eg start at a speed the motor can handle and slowly ramp it up. You will find there gets a point where the motor still spins nicely but the torque is very small. At this point I normally pump up the voltage to the motor a bit and try again to see how much faster I can get it to go without running out of torque. If the motor is not getting too warm then you are probably ok to continue using this voltage. Remember to deactivate the motor coils as soon as the motor is powered down though or you risk burning out the coils.
I run 5V 1A motors at 12V approx 2A on my CNC machine and they work very well, not had a problem in years. If any of the motors stop for more then 4 timer periods then that motor is switched off until it needs to move again. The timer is then used for the speed control by varying the preload value passed to the count register.

hi ben ,
bug fixed.
i reduse delay to 2 ms.and increase supply voltage to 12 v 5amps.
now my machine is runing nice and smoothly.
tanks for your tips.
