16F887 PIN Compatible 18FXXX available?

Post by Ron »

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could provide me with the part numbers for a PIC that has an identical pin layout to the 16F887.

I have written a program and need 1K EEPROM and it would be nice if it has more RAM, ROM etc as well,

The main criteria is

100% Pin compatible to 16F887
1K on board EEPROM (minimum)
512 RAM (minimum)
Very new model, not something that might be discontinued soon.

If you know of a few different models that meet these requirements please provide me with a list. I want to be able to determine cost/features for my needs. I am hoping to have several to choose from.

I am hoping that someone can save me hours of pouring through data sheets and web pages.

Thank you

Ron

Hello Ron,

I think you'll need to go for an 18F part - the 40-pin versions are 18F4xxx. They are generally pin-for-pin compatible with the 887.

Microchip's website has a good parametric search for parts:
