Wireless RS232

Morning,

At work we have some test equipment that records results to a pc via RS232

Due to health and safety reasons and the distance to the laptop / pc we will have to use wireless

Has anybody done this before ?

I've got the matrix e-blocks for zigbee.

Done a few basic flowcharts with them, fairly easy to use with flowcode.

I have successfully made a wireless serial bridge using the Microchip ICs used in the EB063 RF E-block boards and circular buffers at each end though it was a bit fiddly to get working nicely and reliably. Zigbee or Bluetooth are other good options if you want something a bit easier.

You could have a look into the XRF by ciseco. I have used these many times and they are excellent.

All you do is send transparent data via usart and another Module can pick up the data and pass it to a computer terminal.

I was hoping that with that module plugged into a RS232 development board it might be relativity easy

the reason for this is we have a ac flash tester set that the start / stop, voltage , leakage is all over RS232

But because of the test location we will be using the test set in the use of the cable to pc is not permitted
