Hi, I work in Tech Support in a large college. I got the following message from one of our tutors.
The board we have difficulty downloading to is the Matrix
Multiprogrammer EB-006-00-5 model, the low voltage version. The older
version that works is EB-006-00-4.
Please bear in mind I have no ideas as to the programing of these boards, I simply deal with hardware and operating systems on PC's. Anyhow I originally installed the software and the USB drivers and it all worked swimmingly well with the EB-006-00-4 board. With these new EB-006-00-5 boards the program returns that the USB device is not connected when trying to upload to the board. I have ran the USB drivers that came with the board and downloaded from this site just to cover corruptions/ revisions, it still don't work.
Anybody had any experience of this? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Re: USB Connection issues
Hello
Please can you check your boards jumper settings. J29 should be set to PSU and J12,13,14 should be set to USB.

Yes All those jumpers areset as you have suggested. There are some jumpers labeled LVP, do they matter?
Thanks

Hello
The LVP jumpers should be set to I/O if you are using an external power supply. Please can you check your device manager to see if the Matrix Mutliprogrammer appears under the USB section. If not then it is possible that your PPP chip has become damaged. To verify this you could try swapping the one from your V4 Multiprogrammer and seeing if that fixes the problem.

Re: USB Connection issues
OK, re installed drivers just to double check they were very latest. USB Bus picks up the board when attached and registers it under device manager correctly. LVP jumpers are set correctly. We even took the main chip from the EB-006-00-4 board and attached that into the EB-006-00-5 board and it still wouldn't work. The tutor said that these boards have never worked since he purchased them and has even sent all 3 back as faulty, they were tested and sent back as no fault found.Benj wrote:Hello

Whenever the program tries to upload the error message 'no USB device present' appears, is there a software upgrade to cover this board? The PC seems to recognise it but the PPP software doesn't.

Re: USB Connection issues
Hello
Ok then it is not a PPP chip problem. Have you tried installing the latest version of PPP from our download area. Also you could try disabling the Windows power management for the Programmer as this can have an adverse effect. Simply go into Device manager, Find the Matrix programmer in the USB setcion, double click it to get the properties and click on the power management tab, Then untick the box saying allow windows to power down this device.
Then run PPP and click Options -> Options and do an auto detect. This should find the board and allow you to communicate with it correctly.

Re: USB Connection issues
Well that seemed to work.
we were using PPP v. 3.3.6.17 that was on the disc shipped with the board. upgraded to 3.9 from you site and it worked.
