Homebrew E-Blocks & D-Sub Connectors.

Post by KeithSloan »

I wish to build a few home brew E-Blocks.

1) Maplin's used to sell the right angled D-Sub connectors male/female but have stopped doing them. Where can one obtain them for a reasonable price ? ( Farnell's just have US stock which makes them VERY expensive). I only want 9 male and 3 female so not a big order.

2) Can one obtain the IDC E-Block extender cable in a longer length. If not where can one obtain the D-Sub connectors that seem to have crimps for IDC cable.

3) Please can you advise about placement and spacing of mounting holes so that one can use one of your back planes.

Many Thanks
Keith

Hello Keith

Have you tried Rapid or RS?

Hole spacing for backplanes is every 20 mm.

Hello

There is a document which details the size and specification of E-Blocks available from here.

Right Angle 9 pin D-Sub Connectors.

Rapid : do not have any right angle ones for PCB mounting.

RS : only have surface mounted right angle ones.

Any other suggestions.

Ben

Yes you are correct I missed the fact that Farnell's do have UK stock for some reason.
Sure I did not find them when I did my initial search

Trouble with Farnell's is they have a Β£20 minimum order and tend to be expensive.
Will see if I can find elsewhere.

Keith
