For any devices that has the path to the MPLAB IPE hardcoded such as the ChipKit uC32 you can edit the device definition file to set your version of the IPE software.

First copy the correct definition file from the "Flowcode 7/FCD/Family" folder to your desktop.

Open the file in a text editor and near the top of the file is a section of XML containing the path to the IPE software.

Code: Select all

<build>
    <compiler exe="$(appdir)compilers\pic32\bin\xc32-gcc.exe" params="-mprocessor=$(chipalt) -O1 -o $(target).out $(target).c"/>
    <programmer exe="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microchip\MPLABX\v3.30\mplab_ipe\ipecmd.exe" params="/P$(chipalt) /F"$(outdir)$(target).hex" /TPPK3 /M /OL" />
</build>
This is the part you need to change to match your installed version of IPE.
<programmer exe="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microchip\MPLABX\v3.40\mplab_ipe\ipecmd.exe" params="/P$(chipalt) /F"$(outdir)$(target).hex" /TPPK3 /M /OL" />
Save the file, close the text editor and copy the file back to the directory you originally took it from.

On a 32-bit machine the path might instead look like this.
<programmer exe="C:\Program Files\Microchip\MPLABX\v3.40\mplab_ipe\ipecmd.exe" params="/P$(chipalt) /F"$(outdir)$(target).hex" /TPPK3 /M /OL" />
I have a batch file in progress that should get around the need to specify the exact version and should jump to the latest version but it needs a bit of polishing so didn't make it into the 7.1 release.
