Hi
I am currently researching a new project where I want to have a large touch screen very similar to EB076. I have had a look on the 4D Systems website however the largest screen they have is this one http://www.4dsystems.com.au/prod.php?id=155 which is only 4.3".
I am happy to do development with the small screen but is there any possible way to up size the screen at a later date?
Thanks
Graham

Re: Large EB076 E-Block
Hello Graham,
It might be worth contacting 4D directly to see if they have any plans for a bigger display in the future. Display technology moves very fast so it is unlikely Matrix will develop any hardware any time soon as by the time we bring the product to the market the display is usually no longer available to buy meaning we have to do all the work again for the next batch.
Also the larger the screen the longer it will take to refresh. The 4D displays are not too bad but they are not what I would call fast. A full screen clear operation seems to take about 1-2 seconds on the EB076. Obviously if you can only refresh certain areas of the screen at a time then you can get away with an animated flicker free display.
For a large touchscreen display with good refresh and resolution you might be better off using a computer type touchscreen as the cost will be significantly less then an embedded type display. Then use a computer to drive the display and maybe a USB connection to drive any external electronics?
I know of a company using larger serial based intelligent displays which are much bigger then the 4D system displays so I will contact them and find out the manufacturer. Not sure if they had touchscreen interfaces but I will find out.
