does anyone know how to enable and disable the sleep function in this chip.
I basically want to turn off the sleep function permanently.

Hi Roy,
The device shouldn't go to sleep on it's own unless told to do so. You may need to check the device configuration settings to make sure the watchdog timer is not enabled if your having problems with the operation of the device.
