Hi,
On the v3 Board Schematic there is a "Vernier device", along with the photoresistor and potentiometers. What is this?, is it simply a reference to the (white) connecors on the side of the board where a device may be plugged in or is there actually some hardware behind it (if so what please).
Regarding the white connectors, whilst I realise they are meant for off the shelf sensors I would like to be able to make up my own connector, but the plug, whilst looking like a phone plug, seems to be different. What type is it, any idea if it is stocked by RS/Rapid/or the like.
Thanks.

It does refer to the white connectors.
As for the plug, there are 2 - one is "left-handed" and one is "right-handed". The one for the analogue sensor (probably the most useful one) is the same as a BT phone connector, but uses all 6 lines (the plug on my phone only uses the middle 4 lines).
We don't make our own sensors, so we've never tried to source the plugs. I know we did have difficulty getting the digital sensor socket at one time, so you might struggle to find the plug for this one. But the analogue plug, the 6-wire cable and the crimping tool should be readily available.

BT style plugs
We have been asked this a few times recently so here is the answer:
You can buty them in the UK from Rapid Electronics http://www.rapidonline.com
21-0112 is 6 way right hand latch (analogue port)
44-2034 is 6 way left hand latch (digital port)
I don't have any information on where you get them from in the USA.
