We have looked into dsPICs previously and decided that the demand for them was not that high.

However, we have recently began discussing them again.

Do you have any particular requirements?

Requirements for dsPIC.

Mentioned dsPIC's and speech recognition to an old college who worked in IBM voice he expressed an interest and wanted a recommendation for a development board. He is interested in Text to Speech and personally I am not sure dsPIC would provide better than mechanical voice like SpeakJet http://www.speechchips.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=6. or how signal processing would help text to speech. One thing I might like to explore is using it for Echo Cancellation. I use Skype a lot and apparently it implements echo cancellation but the end result is that it might as well not bother. I would therefore like to have access to a development board that had a mic in, line out ( To go to PC ) another line in ( From PC speaker ) and a final line out to feed PC speaker. dsPIC in the middle to hopefully do echo cancellation. I think it would also need to support Codec chip and ideally ICD 2. From a training point of view ( Which I assume is Matrix Multimedia's focus ) then ability to use speech recognition, apparently it would recognise upto 100 command words would be of interest to control e-blocks by speech.
