Hi,
I have installed the driver "dpinst_amd64.exe" for the 40 pin ECIO device as this is the only one that will install as I have a 64-bit Windows 7 operating system.
After connecting 5V to Vdd_in and 0V to Gnd on the ECIO device and then connecting to the USB port on the PC, it does seem to load the driver properly since the ECIO device is recognised in Device Manager for about 3/4 seconds under a category called "Custom USB Device". However, it then disappears and it is no longer listed.
There is no option to untick "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" as all that appears temporarily is information on the driver, which doesn't have the power management tab that the USB Root Hub devices and Generic USB Hub devices have under the category "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".
Nonetheless, I did untick the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for all USB Root Hubs and Generic Root Hubs, but this made no difference to my problem.
I have spent a couple of hours re-installing drivers and trying various different options but I haven't found a solution. I have a second of these ECIO 40 pin devices and this is behaving the same way.
I'd appreciate any help provided. I'm surprised there isn't more information available on this issue as I have searched forum.
Finally, what are the recommended config settings for programming the ECIO 40 pin device since it looks a step up in terms of complexity when compared to programming the 16F88 or 16F877A within the expert config screen.
Rgds,
Paul

Re: ECIO 40 pin disconnecting in Windows 7
Hello Paul,
The ECIO has its own internal bootloader, when you press the reset button or plug the device into the computer the device will go into programming mode, however if it does not receive a command to "hold" it in programming mode, then it will close the program mode connection and will not be able to be seen by the PC.
If you wish to program the ECIO, you need only to try send a program via FLowcode and it will prompt you to reset the device to put it into programming mode. If you wish to see your device working you can load up the ECIOprog.exe within the Flowcode v4/Tool and this program should "hold" the device in program mode.
Are you selecting the "ECIO40Pin" from the device list when programming with Flowcode? If you select the specific chip it will not work with ECIO.

Re: ECIO 40 pin disconnecting in Windows 7
Hello David,
I today installed my whole MM-software (Flowcode 4 PIC and ARM) on an IMAC mit Windows 7 64 bit running under VMWARE Fusion. Having the same problems mentioned above, I could not get the ECIO-ARM to take the program-code. I tried all the steps recommended, but had no success.
Is there any chance to program the ECIO's in a 64-bit-W7-system?
Thanks for further help.
Winfried
