Whitespace is allowed within json. However there shouldn’t be backslashes before the double quotes. Non integer values would require floating point math to be included in the code which is terrible inefficient if it is just included for delay. Allowing delay to use a larger ms value would be more efficient.

What is the target for your components? Microcontrollers? I am asking because the picture on the page you refer to shows a MySQL connector ‘component’ which translates the simple python call into a binary protocol used to communicate to MySQL.
