FC9 install issues

Post by HansJuergenHalder »

Hello,
I am working with Flowcode 8 and I am thinking about switching to Flowcode 9. Unfortunately I was not able to install the trail version on my computer for testing purposes. After a tortured download of the code to install, I always get the following error message when trying to install:

flowcode core files not found. (This may be because it is your first time running Flowcode). Automated download and install is required. This may require running as administrator.

i have downloaded the program several times and run it as administrator. The program downloads in two steps about 750 MByte and gives the message it is ready.

I'm not sure what is going wrong with your installation. I have just reinstalled Flowcode twice a 'clean' PC. Each time I responded differently to the installation prompts, but the installation always proceeds ok.

Here's what I did first:
  • Download and launch the installer
  • Run Flowcode
  • Respond 'no' to the question about installing the update
  • Respond 'no' to the question about skipping it next time
  • Flowcode (v9.0) runs ok after setting up the library files
  • Close and reload Flowcode
  • This time respond 'yes' to the question about installing the update
  • Flowcode automatically downloads and installs the update
  • Respond 'yes' to the question about overwriting library files
  • Respond 'yes' to the question about first deleting the existing library files
  • Flowcode automatically runs and is the new v9.1 version
And here's the other approach I took:
  • Download and launch the installer
  • Run Flowcode
  • Say 'yes' to the question about installing the update
  • Flowcode automatically downloads and installs the update
  • Say 'yes' to the prompt for replacing the library files
  • Flowcode (v9.1) runs ok after setting up the library files
In both cases I installed to the default location (under "C:\Program Files (x86)") but there should be no problem installing in a different location assuming you have appropriate r/w privileges.

There have been some initial reports of the update flagging as a false positive for some anti-virus programs, but the companies have been contacted and Flowcode and its update should now be white-listed. However, there still could be some program on your PC that is preventing the installation or its update. Running in Windows Safe Mode sometimes prevents this interference.

If you are still having problems, please list the exact steps you have taken so I can help you rectify the issue.

Hallo Hans Jürgen

This is only a small hint if there are problems with "can not found" and paths
Sometimes space gives problem in the path, better don't use space and ä ö ü é à . : , ; in the path
