Re: QRCODE reader / Generator lib
Hello,
We could probably generate QR codes on a grahical LCD fairly easily.
Not sure about doing a reader though, this would probably involve something like a camera and image processing. All doable but no easy to get right especially on a MCU.

Hello Ben,
A few modules are available with UART interface to read QRCode like "GM65 QR & Barcode Scanner Module".

Hello! Ben
good afternoon
Following the topic, i am also curious to know if it is possible to use a Barcode scanner to read data in FC10 and process for some application like comparing the string or counting how many time a barcode is scanned, etc.
Regards
Abhi

Re: QRCODE reader / Generator lib
For the esp32 - there are components for the quirc and qrcode libraries which will decode / encode and should be fairly easy to incorporate into an esp32 project...
A lot of 'scanners' rather than using a camera output a string, certainly for barcodes (and maybe qrcodes?).

Re: QRCODE reader / Generator lib
Hi
A while back I looked at a barcode scanner that had a USB interface. I went so far as to modify a USB extension lead so that the end that would normally plug into a PC port was on a header. I should look it out sometime.
I did have some hopes for it as it was supposed to output a string of sorts, but it then occured to me that unless I had created the barcodes, how would I know what each string meant? I thought I could perhaps use some online toolset or the like but I only (then) found sites that would either decode something else online by entering a web address, would decode an uploaded file (e.g. pdf) or scan using your PC camera.
There may well be as site now that has some api that allows you to send a GET request or the like.
As an aside, I thought I'd found a use for an old mobile phone. Removing the battery as it would need to be on 24/7 and powerting via USB, I located it near the bin. Idea being as I threw something out I would scan first and it would update a shopping list. It did work using one of the many free apps that do that sort of stuff but it didn't last too long. Numerous times it ended up in the bin too (maybe not scan empty beer bottles....) or had become unplugged (this isn't MTV so that's bad). Girlfiend (not a typo) never used it claiming that "I'm younger than you so I can remember what to buy...". I did conceed that she always did seem to have everything needed but my suggestion that was solely due to her buying everything she sees rather than needs didn't go down too well.....

Re: QRCODE reader / Generator lib
Hi! Martin, Hi! Chipfryer
good morning
Thank you for sharing your views.
My concern with scanning the barcode is limited to reading the data only, i am expecting the printed barcode label and i have to read, i have to save the number for further comparison, i hope the number or data is in a string format coming out of the USB connector of the scanner, now my main concern is how can i read the data using the PIC chip, so i tried to search scanner with rs232 output but still no luck, i also came across one website (https://ainow.in/product/usb-barcode-to ... de-reader/) mentioning about some converter to ttl signal level.
I hope i was able to put my point, can you or someone from the forum put some light on this.
Thank you.
Regards
Abhi

Re: QRCODE reader / Generator lib
That looks like a interface board that needs a separate scanner.
There do seem to be scanners with TTL output - see https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3286522 ... dIEALw_wcB
For example

Re: QRCODE reader / Generator lib
Hi Abhi
From the description it looks like it will take the output of a USB scanner and convert to RS232 (TTL) which almost any microcontroller can handle via it's UART. It seems to decode to ascii string so would be very easy to process further. Flowcode would have no trouble accepting the output,
A point to note which may be an issue is it says it only decodes GS1-128 (UCC/EAN-128) Decoding which is not usually used for Point of Sale. A description of the various codes can be found here https://www.gs1uk.org/standards-service ... r-products
I'm going to see if I can find my scanner. It's cold here, just 6C, so hunting around will keep me warm...<s>

Hi! Chipfryer
Thank you for your feedback, i found couple of links and i think my problem is solved, now i need to order to take trial, below for anyone working on Barcode scanner and TTL output.
