Hi! Chipfryer

Thank you for sharing the information about BL0080, yes my only concern is about the ghost function and now i understand very clearly i need to buy the 0080 for that, no doubt there are other benefits too, to be honest i was under an impression i need to buy a small gadget which stand in between target PCB and FC, (like PLC and its software)

Now i need to check the shipping charges to India along with the HSN code to find out the duty amount, i hope this do not exceeds the 0080's cost :)

About the chip, may i request you to check if i can use PIC18F27K42 with 0080.

@Wingnut thank you for your input.

Abhi

Hi Abhi

Based on the target list I don't think you can program the 18F27K42 directly in the BL0080 using mLoader (but you could via the ICSP).

Maybe someone in Matrix can confirm?

Hi! Chipfryer

Thank you for the confirmation, lets hear from Matrix Team.

By the way one more doubt, kindly excuse if i sound stupid, what i understand is the i cannot download the program in the said chip directly using "Compile to Target" button, but i can using ICSP instead, but my main concern is debugging, does that mean i cannot use the ghost function too for the said chip ie 18F27K42.

Thank you.

Abhi

Hello Abhi,

Yes as ChipFrier has pointed out I'm afraid the BL0080 will not directly support reprogramming the 18F27K42 device but can be programmed on the board via the ICSP socket and a programming tool such as the PICkit3.

As far as Ghost is concerned the ICT should work straight away. The ICD should also be fairly easy to get going but may require changes to the chip definition file (FCD).

Hi Ben

So if I'm reading correctly, I can still use Ghost on 8-bit chips the board doesn't directly program, by using ICSP? I had wondered about that.

Hi! Ben

Thank you for the confirmation about the programming, it would be great if you could add this chip in the list in near future, :D

Regarding ICD (In Circuit Debugging, right?) that feature is activated only after connecting the BL0080 is it? so I cannot explore that for the moment. By the way where can I find the FCD, did you mean under Build -> Project Options.....

One more doubt, on the BL0080 I hope I can change the crystal as per my requirement.

Thank you.

Hello!
good evening

Finally received my BL0080, and now as usual so many doubts, please excuse me if i am asking repeat questions.

First of all i installed the drivers and now the power led is on and USB led is blinking, i hope this is correct.

I am using the same chip which i received along with the board 16F18877, i wrote a small chart and want to download the same to the chip, i understand i need mLoader for that, is it? i tried to search on form but did not find any answer where to download that.

I am able to enable ICD button from FC, after pressing the PLAY button i receive a message to "Need to Compile to Chip", i am stuck up at this point.

May i request to help me by sharing the relevant topic on how to use the BL0080

Thank you.

Abhi

Hi Abhi

If you go to the FC downloads page and download the 8-bit PIC compiler then scroll down, you will also find the EB2 drivers.

Before you compile, you need to enable Ghost, then compile to target. After that you have control over the chip to step through or whatever.

The WIkI has a good guide to get you started with it.

Hi! Chipfryer

Thank you for your quick help.

I have already downloaded the compiler, as i am already working using FC10 and able to compile my chart, i also installed the EB2 drivers, i think that is the reason the USB LED is blinking.

I am able to enable and disable the ICD button as mentioned, probably the problem is with downloading the HEX file after compiling. I found the mLoader setup and installed that too and was able to download the HEX file.

Please check the below picture, do you think i need to mention to use the mloader instead of PICKit.

Thank you.

Hi! Chipfryer

One more important doubt, do i need to power up the BL0080 using external power supply (12V) or USB power is enough for testing.

I tried to run a simple program to blink LED but it seams the HEX file is not downloaded, nothing happens, but the mloader downloaded successfully as per the message.

By the way what is the configuration of the ICSP header on board.
