Welcome to our course. The aims of the course are:
to give you an understanding of the C high level programming language
to show you how to run C on a 16 Series PICmicro microcontroller
to get you started on the business of writing "embedded programs"
Through a series of taught sections and exercises you will create and modify programs to solve particular problems. You will also be given "food for thought" by a number of exercises which will test your knowledge and also present things you may want to worry about...
You don't need to know in detail how a PICmicro microcontroller works, or how to program one at a low level. However, if you want to get "close to the metal" or mix high level and low level programs (mainly to squeeze the last ounce of performance out of a system) you would find it useful to look at our companion Assembly for PICmicro microcontrollers course (See the Matrix Multimedia web site for further details).
