Power Supply Connections

Most (but not all) operational amplifiers require a symmetrical supply of typically between ±5V and ±15V. This allows the output voltage produced by the amplifier to swing both positive (above 0V) and negative (below 0V). Note that, to keep things simple, power supply connections are not always shown on circuit diagrams.

The maximum output voltage swing is usually within about 0.1V or 0.2V of the supply rail voltages. (:nl:)(:table style="clear:both":)
